Avoid These Obvious Mistakes

Last week, someone asked me to review their copy for a certain product they wanted to advertise.
Being me, I didn't really mind, and I said, "Sure."
He sends it to me and MY GOD.
I couldn't even get through the first line.
Not because it was terrible copy.
Not because he wrote in a foreign language.
Not because the font was too small.
But because there were SO many grammar and spelling errors.
Just in the first line.
I don't really pick on spelling and grammar errors too often because I understand everyone is at varying levels of English.
Not everyone's an expert in English.
But the mistakes I was seeing were first draft mistakes.
And I absolutely despise first draft mistakes.
Why?
Because it shows a lack of effort and care.
Like I would see people put "u" instead of "you", or some people put the "i" lowercase even though it's supposed to be uppercase.
People ending sentences with commas instead of periods.
It's kind of like taking a test and failing it because you immediately turned it in without reviewing any of the work.
And it's like, "Come on nowwwwwwwwwwwwwww."
You can do better.
It shouldn't even have to be a problem because even if you didn't know the basic rules of English, you have so many tools at your disposal.
ChatGPT, Grammarly, etc.
There's no excuse for this.
All it takes is a bit of effort.
It goes a long way in the end.
Talk soon,
Afzal
