Numbers Game

"Is sales a numbers game?" This is one of the most common questions I see people asking. Some people say yes it is. 100%. Other people say no that's not how sales works. Bunch of opinions. I say yes AND no. Let's start with why it wouldn't be a numbers game. If you're selling glasses to people who can't see, toothpaste to people who don't have teeth, or even logic to communists, you're never going to sell. Because those are impossibilities. No matter how many times you give the sales presentation, it's never going to work. Unless you're prospect likes to just hand out money. That's the more obvious reason why it wouldn't be a numbers game. But if you try to sell to people that don't really have a need, you're equally as fried. Like I used to sell marketing to people that had marketing teams, ads popping, social medias populated. They had everything. I tried so many times to try and close a call, but I just never got any. Once I started ringing phones to people that NEEDED marketing because of a lack of expertise, I got way more calls, transactions, and deals. That's the no part. But for the vast majority of the times, sales IS a numbers game. Like all things in life, you need to put in the reps. Doesn't matter if you want to get better at a sport, get stronger, or make more money. It's not going to come overnight. And sales is precisely the same. If you genuinely sell a REAL solution and target the right people, it's just a numbers game. You're bound to get a deal. And once that happens, it'll be the best feeling ever.
